Under-30s struggle to get on property ladder

The paper suggests under-30s are being squeezed out of the market due to more stringent limitations on personal finance, although acknowledges that first-time buyers are increasing in number, with 28% of all completed sales going to property ladder newcomers, up from 25% in March. Mark Hayward of the National Association of Estate Agents said “While sales to first time buyers remain strong, fiercely competitive micro-markets in areas mean that many younger buyers simply still cannot afford to get on to the housing ladder”.
