Space for 10,000 additional homes on London’s council estates

A Conservative party report has found that there is enough redundant land on London’s council estates to build a further 10,000 homes

A spokesperson for Boris Johnson said there would be a push to build more “infill homes” as a result of the findings. “We need an urgent, mass-scale, co-ordinated effort to turn the thousands of redundant spaces in blocks and estates into housing,” said Steve O’Connell, the report’s author. Mr Johnson has consequently been called on to launch a pilot project which would see 100 “self-built homes” built on unused swathes of council land “as soon as possible”.
