The Land Registry also announced that 19,934 properties were bought with an interest-free loan from the government’s Help to Buy scheme in the first 12 months of its operation.
The median loan was £36,999 and the median price paid for a property was £184,995; 87.5% of borrowers were first-time buyers. Help to Buy funding was used to purchase 162 properties costing between £500,001-£600,000, 1,056 costing over £350,000 and 6,196 between £150,001-£200,000.
